YAY DONE~
This particular student named Daniel wants to claim that he has finished this very simplistic and basic mindmap in 2 mins. Therefore, please do not be so shocked or aghast over this piece of random work and start screaming in agony or writhing in despair.
Enjoy dudes(and ladies)!
Umm... you might need to click on it and magnify it, since it turned out to be so small when i cropped it from bubble.us.
Sheesh.
Anyway, if you have any comments or feel that the mindmap is seriously out of point or very .... um.... wrong, please notify us or post on our tagboard(which will be up soon), whenever and wherever you feel like it. Thanks and no stress xD
Cheers,

Hey, great start. The mindmap looks good for an initial version. The group has clearly identified 3 crucial areas that you would want to focus on i.e. space usage, sound audibility and quality.
ReplyDeleteHowever, you can expand it even further. Some ideas from Ms Chua as below =)
1) Although echo may boost the sound quality, it can also distort sound. So do look from both sides in your research.
2) Besides ensuring that sound is audible across the room, another factor to consider would be the distortion of sound across the frequency spectrum. When music is playing, several frequencies are played at the same time, so the ideal situation is to be able to hear all frequencies as they were meant to without being affected by the physical environment. But it this ideally possible? What are some constraints that you can think of?
3) Besides placement of furniture, what other features about the room can you think of? How about the shape of the room? Don't be constrained in thinking that a room has to be square or rectangle. What about the wall itself? You should do some research on current designs of home theatre studio.
4) What about wave diffraction? You have explored interference but diffraction can also play a part as well.
5) It's good that you have identified some directional linkages using arrows. Are you able to identify more directional links?
Can see that effort was put in for this =) Do refine the mindmap further and start reading up on the different concepts that you will need. You should post up information on the concepts as you study through them, so that everyone can benefit.

Btw, you should identify the problem statement and overarching essential question first before generating the mindmap.
ReplyDeleteYou can of course edit the problem statement and question later after further research. This is because as you obtain more information, you will have a clearer idea of the problem, which may necessitate changes.
After you have come up with the overarching question that you are supposed to answer for this problem, you should generate the subsidiary topical questions that need to be answered. Some questions are provided in the question sheet already.
